WHAT IT IS

What is the STEAM Maker Lab?

STEAM Maker Lab is Jungle Lion's 20-week, all-English science class where children do hands-on experiments and present their results in English.

Taught entirely in English | In-person small class of 6–10 children | 20 weeks | Three stages | English presentation at every stage

01

Learn science through experiments, and practice English through science

Learn science by doing it in English.

From the three states of water to density and buoyancy, children first do the experiment, then explain in English what they saw and why it happened.

02

An English presentation at every stage

Every unit ends with a presentation.

Every stage ends with a Boss Level: review, prepare, then present the results in English, practicing how to explain clearly what they did and what they found.

03

A 20-week journey from water to bridges

From water to bridges.

Children first explore matter and forces, then energy and electricity generation, and finally take on motors, buildings and bridges, step by step becoming an Ultimate Engineer.

THE 20-WEEK PASSPORT

What experiments will we do over the 20 weeks?

The syllabus is called the "20-Week STEAM Explorer Passport", with one mission theme each week paired with one hands-on experiment.

U1

Matter and Forces (Weeks 1–7)

Matter & Forces

Week 1 | Water Cycle Adventure: the three states of water and a water purification and evaporation experiment

Week 2 | The Magic of Salt and Water: density and buoyancy, making a water-bottle boat and a non-Newtonian fluid

Week 3 | Laws of Motion: gravity and inertia, making a sand pendulum

Week 4 | The Power of Water and Air: an air-pressure balloon and a water dispenser

Weeks 5–7 | Boss Level 1 Master of Matter: review and English presentation

U2

Energy (Weeks 8–14)

Energy

Week 8 | Energy Conversion: physics, sound, light, potential energy and kinetic energy, making a wind-up car

Week 9 | Chemical and Physical Changes: elephant toothpaste and slime

Week 10 | Generating Electricity 1: an electric wind turbine and wind-powered LED

Week 11 | Generating Electricity 2: ions in lemons and potatoes, making an electrostatic plastic flyer and a potato battery

Weeks 12–14 | Boss Level 2 Energy Expert: review and English presentation

Jungle Lion STEAM class: children make slime and observe chemical changes
Jungle Lion STEAM class: children assemble a wind turbine LED experiment kit
Jungle Lion STEAM class: children blow on a wind turbine to test power generation

In class: left, children making slime in Week 9; middle, children assembling a wind turbine LED kit in Week 10; right, a child blowing on the wind turbine to test power generation.

U3

Power, Buildings, and Bridges (Weeks 15–20)

Motors, Buildings & Bridges

Week 15 | Power and motion: motors and propellers, building an electric airplane

Week 16 | Architecture: spaghetti tower

Week 17 | Bridges: suspension bridge

Weeks 18–20 | Final Boss Ultimate Engineer: full review and final English presentation

Experiments follow the syllabus. Actual progress and materials are subject to classroom announcements.

SKILLS

What skills will children practice?

The five STEAM areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Art & Design. Each experiment uses several of them.

Scientific thinking: observing, forming hypotheses, reasoning, organizing and interpreting data, and building and testing prototypes.

English expression: at the end of each stage, children use an English presentation to explain what they did, what results they saw, and why.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the STEAM Maker Lab a science class or an English class?

Both happen at the same time. Children observe, form hypotheses, record data, and explain results entirely in English, using English as they carry out hands-on experiments.

What English level does my child need to join?

The class is currently planned for children at CEFR A2 level. To find out whether it fits, we suggest first booking a free 15-minute placement test, after which the teacher will assess and advise.

How many weeks is the course, and how is it organized?

The syllabus runs 20 weeks in three stages: Matter and Forces (Weeks 1–7), Energy (Weeks 8–14), and Power, Architecture and Bridges (Weeks 15–20). Each stage ends with a "Boss Level" review and an English presentation: Weeks 5–7, Weeks 12–14, and Weeks 18–20.

How many children are in a class?

In-person small classes have 6–10 children. Actual class times and campus are as announced on the schedule.

Can we try a class first? How much does it cost?

Yes. Trial prices are NT$380, NT$550, and NT$600. Please refer to the schedule and our official LINE announcements for the courses and time slots each price applies to.

Do we need to prepare experiment materials ourselves?

The syllabus lists the materials used each week. Please check with the classroom before registering about how materials are prepared and whether any extra fee applies.
